Watch Charles Barkley’s strong message to ‘rednecks’ who boycott Bud Light: ‘You can’t cancel me’

Charles Barkley sent a strong message over the weekend to those boycotting Bud Light.

A video on TikTok, via @NBA24Highlights, showed Barkley at a California bar where he bought a round of drinks before he presented a PSA, Barkley style.

“Hey, let me tell you something,” he started, per Mediaite. “All you rednecks or assholes who don’t want to drink Bud Light, (expletive) y’all. Hey, y’all can’t cancel me!”

It appears he got a mixed review from the crowd.

“Hey, I ain’t worried about getting canceled because let me tell you something, if y’all fire me and give me all that money, I’m gonna be playing golf every (expletive) day. So listen, as I said last night, if you’re gay, God bless you. If you’re trans, God bless you. And if you have a problem with them – (expletive) you,” Barkley said.

Bud Light has been the target of protesters since transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney cracked open a Bud Light in an Instagram video on April 1 as part of a promotional contest for the beer brand.

Conservative figures and others called for a boycott of Bud Light, while Mulvaney’s supporters criticized the beer brand for not doing enough to support her.

Since then, two marketing executives at parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev took a leave of absence, Bud Light lost its decades-long position as America’s best-selling beer.

In the four weeks ending June 17, Bud Light’s U.S. retail sales had slumped 26% compared with the same period a year ago, according to Bump Williams Consulting, which follows the industry. Sales of Modelo Especial, which recently supplanted Bud Light as the country’s best-selling beer in retail dollar sales, rose 9% in the same period. Modelo’s market share was 8.4%, while Bud Light’s was 7.1%.

Since then, Mulvaney said she felt abandoned by Bud Light after facing “more bullying and transphobia than I could have ever imagined” over her partnership with the beer giant.
